Nutrition Step 2 - Eat Clean

Toxicity is an important cause of weight gain and other health issues. Toxins can come from the outside (e.g pollution, food toxins) or the inside (e.g by-products of metabloism). The function of the liver is key to the elimination of potentially toxic substances. The liver neutralizes toxins using two-stage processes.

A liver supporting diet is one which includes easily digested food, such as fruit, vegetables and grains, and is low in liver taking foods, such as fatty foods, dairy products, processed foods, alcohol and caffeine.

Toxicity can be related to other factors, such as food sensitivity, candida overgrowth, leakiness in the gut wall and constipation.

Modified fasting can be a useful way to kick start the detoxification process.

Sauna, steam baths, skin brushing, lymph drainage massage and colonic irrigation may also help detoxification processes.

Certain nutrients and herbs, including milk thistle, choline, insitol, green tea extract and alpha lipoic acid, can be very effective in improving liver function and reducing toxicity in the long term.

For some individuals, detoxification can lead to siginicant weight loss and health rejuvenation.
